Clarner Woodworks

Vermont furniture maker, Doug Clarner, specializes in custom made fine handcrafted furniture. He is a member of the Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers, and has a reputation for excellence.

Rooted in the Shaker tradition, his furniture style calls upon elements from the Arts and Crafts movement and shows some Japanese influences as well. He has also produced custom made Mission style furniture for clients. While traditional joinery (dovetails and mortise & tenon), clean lines, and subtle details characterize much of his work, it is not confining. This is exemplified by his "rapid gate ski chairs", a one-of-a-kind design which was featured in an article in the October 2002 issue of Ski Magazine.

All Clarner Woodworks products are custom-made to the clients specifications, from the concept and design to the wood type and finish.
